The New Tottenham Manager Confirmed as Ange Postecoglou
Tottenham has announced the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as their new manager.
Since Antonio Conte left the club in March, Spurs have been looking for a new boss. Cristian Stellini, his assistant, initially assumed temporary control, but Ryan Mason ended the season as caretaker to bring stability to the first team.
Tottenham considered several potential candidates to take over as manager, including Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique, and Arne Slot from Feyenoord. However, they have finally chosen Postecoglou, who has signed a four-year deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Chairman Daniel Levy said, "Ange brings a positive mentality and a fast, attacking style of play. He has a strong track record of developing players and an understanding of the importance of the link from the academy - everything that is important to our Club. We are excited to have Ange join us as we prepare for the season ahead."
Postecoglou joins Tottenham after leading Celtic for two impressive years, winning the treble last season after securing Premiership and League Cup glory in his first year in charge. The 57-year-old became the first Australian to manage in the Premier League.
He has also spent time in Japan with Yokohama F. Marinos and took charge of the Australian national team between 2013 and 2017, impressing at the 2014 World Cup and walking away after qualifying for the tournament in 2018.
Postecoglou's new task is to rebuild a Tottenham team that fell to eighth in the Premier League last season and will not play any European football next year. Several players, including goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris, could be sold in the coming weeks. Additionally, Postecoglou will also have to manage the mounting speculation about the future of talisman Harry Kane as Manchester United and Real Madrid prepare bids for the Englishman.
