The podcast of Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes took a more personal and emotional turn on January 23. Amy, 50, confessed amidst tears about feeling hurt and disconnected due to T.J.'s recent behaviour. She relayed her need for physical touch, words of affirmation and communication, feeling that he had been emotionally distant recently.

This open display of emotions surprised listeners, yet it was another episode in the couple’s real-life saga. Formerly co-hosting GMA3, the pair were let go by ABC in January 2023, after they were spotted being intimately involved before their respective divorces were finalized. Both admitted to excessive alcohol consumption during the subsequent fallout. Amy drank over 30 alcoholic beverages weekly, whilst T.J.'s consumption reached almost 18 drinks daily.

An insider confided to Life & Style, that the early euphoria of their relationship has faded. The couple have candidly discussed the pressures of making their relationship work after their careers were abruptly disrupted. Amy has mentioned that their relationship had come at a cost they didn't foresee, having to navigate numerous hurdles along the way.

The challenges are partly due to the couple's near constant presence together, amplified by their launch of the “Amy & T.J.” podcast in December 2023. Despite their on-air rapport, overseeing content, bookings, promotions and ratings has been a demanding task. “This job has engulfed us both,” admitted Amy, about working silently beside each other for lengthy periods. Furthermore, their frequent arguments often lead T.J. to give Amy the silent treatment for days. They have even contemplated attending couples’ therapy, mused the insider to Life & Style.

The rough patch reached a point where Amy and T.J. felt the need to reassure fans, stating that “we are still together” in a January 24 Instagram post. Amy spoke of their desire to be open and transparent about the highs and lows in their relationship. Despite their public display of trials, it’s not necessarily aiding their situation. The insider however conveyed that the couple are desperate to make the relationship work: “A break up now would be mortifying for both.”
