During the newest episode of her podcast, “MeSsy,” Christina Applegate told her co-host Jamie-Lynn Sigler that she has been hospitalized.

According to Applegate, she recorded the Aug. 5 podcast episode titled “Live from the Hospital” from her hospital room, revealing that she has an intense kidney infection that has left her “screaming” in “so much pain.

The actress told Sigler that she first began to notice something was wrong while on a European vacation. On the flight back to the states, Applegate said she went straight to the hospital upon landing in Los Angeles.

Both Applegate and Sigler are battling multiple sclerosis. The co-hosts use their podcast to share the ups and down of living with the disease.

“I’m staying here because I want answers,” Applegate said of her hospital stay. “I want every test that you can possibly think of or ones that you haven’t even thought of, and I want them done.”

Applegate said when she woke up in the hospital in so much pain, she initially thought her “appendix is bursting.”

“So much pain,” Applegate said, describing how she felt. “I’m screaming, and they ordered me an emergency CT at 2 in the morning.” The CT revealed an infection in both of her kidneys.

“Because of this kidney infection, I have to have intravenous antibiotics right now,” she continued. “And that’s where we’re at.”

“Now they’re thinking it could be something else and I don’t want to say what they think, because I don’t want it to sound scary, but I’m just going to be here. I’ve been here for a long time, it’s Wednesday. I got here Saturday,” Applegate continued.

“I’m holding in a bag o’ tears right now,” Applegate admitted. “I sometimes fall into the nurse’s arms like a freako, just like crying.”

Applegate said she tries to pick something on the television during her hospital stays and use it as an opportunity for rest.

“I’m not doing a podcast from the hospital because I felt like doing one from the hospital was an awesome idea,” Applegate said. “We just happen to have this scheduled, and they won’t let me leave yet because things are things are messy.”

Applegate has not publicly shared an update on her health since the release of the podcast.
