Adele Contemplates Potential Acting Career in Theater or Film, Hints Vanity Fair

Despite the fact that Adele is only one Tony accolade short of achieving an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony), don't expect to see her in a musical in the near future. The British songstress addressed her career and acting ambitions on stage and on screen in her latest cover story for The Hollywood Reporter.
Unlike her peers, Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, Adele isn't particularly inclined towards acting. When questioned by The Hollywood Reporter about considering acting, she simply responded with a "No." However, she did confess about one particular role she would love to take up. She didn't disclose too much, but she mentioned, “There is one movie I want to do, but the man who would be in charge of it is not yet ready to draft the script,” she told the media outlet.
She remained tight lipped about further details of the role. She's definitely after the project and is convinced that she'll excel in the undisclosed part. “I occasionally remind him about it, but he isn't prepared yet. That's the solitary role I ever desire. As I am certain, I'd perfect it. I believe I'd be excellent at it.”
As for predictions about the project, it is definitely not a biopic. Adele has made it apparent that she isn't interested in acting as another artist, although she's predominantly been offered such roles.
“I get proposals to act in the biopics of singers, which I consider too predictable,” she mentioned in the interview. “Moreover, starring in a biopic about someone significant is like courting disaster. What if they desire me to sing in my own voice? Then it won't seem like them, but me instead. Hence, I wouldn't do it. But, that's just about all that I've been offered, really.”
She's also not keen on musical theatre. “Musicals are not my cup of tea. That's the only problem,” said Adele. Despite not having received any formal propositions for Broadway, and not being a huge admirer of musicals— “I have more of a Leonard Cohen taste,” she joked—she believes she could pull off one significant role in the musical theater field: Mama Rose. “I recall watching, what was it called? Let me search it. Wait a minute. Gypsy, as the mother,” she shared with THR. “As it's a single big song. I believe I could manage it. I could perform it eight, 10 times weekly. One big song.” So, if Adele is awarded a Tony for successfully portraying Sondheim’s well-known overly zealous stage mother, it shouldn't be a shock.
