Travis Kelce, the star player of Kansas City Chiefs, has disappointed fans who had been fantasizing about him proposing to Taylor Swift after a Super Bowl victory.

During a Las Vegas media event on Monday, February 5, a reporter inquired whether Travis intends on getting another ring apart from a possible Super Bowl reward. The 34-year-old athlete simply replied, with a hint of a smile, "I'm focused on getting this ring, that is my only current focus.", indicating his possible third Super Bowl ring in the last four years.

Many ardent fans of Taylor (also known as Swifties) were expecting an elaborate romantic act involving the couple at the grand game. It is likely that Taylor, who is of the same age as Travis, will jet off to Las Vegas immediately after concluding the final concert of her Eras tour in Tokyo, Japan on Saturday, February 10, to watch Travis play the next day.

After the Chiefs' victory at the AFC Championship on January 28, Taylor entered the field amidst ongoing celebrations by the team. The couple's romantic moments on the field were eagerly watched and admired by the fans.

A TikTok video shared the day after the game revealed a conversation between Travis and Taylor on the field. Travis can be seen expressing his love for Taylor before verbally departing with "I love you so much it’s not even funny." Taylor, in turn, responded with heartfelt words of pride and admiration for Travis.

Another poignant moment captured on the video was Travis affectionately calling Taylor "sweetie" and her reciprocating with "I love you" after the victory.

The couple's public romance started following Taylor's appearance at a Chiefs home game on September 24, 2023, against the Chicago Bears. Taylor sat with Travis’s mother, Donna Kelce, and enthusiastically supported Travis during the game.

Just two months prior, Travis confessed in a July 26, 2023, episode of his “New Heights” podcast about his unsuccessful attempt to give Taylor his phone number on a friendship bracelet at her Kansas City Eras tour performance.

The relationship blossomed further when Taylor shared in a December 6, 2023, TIME's Person of the Year cover interview that she and Travis started dating soon after the podcast episode. She continued to show her support for Travis throughout the regular season and playoffs, and she expressed why she was so open about their relationship, saying, “When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves.”
