Gerry Turner, known as the Golden Bachelor, has had his family vehemently deny the claims made by his ex-girlfriend about their past relationship, describing it as "vindictive."

"Nothing she said is true. It's all purely out of malice," a relative close to Gerry revealed on Monday, 4th December to The U.S. Sun. The "actual" cause for their breakup, according to the family member, was the ex-girlfriend's desire to be listed on the lease of Gerry's lake house, a request he denied. The family member admitted to not even remembering the ex-girlfriend's name.

Under the alias Carolyn, for anonymity, Gerry's ex had spoken to The Hollywood Reporter on 29th November, revealing a seemingly scandal-ridden relationship which began a month after the death of Gerry's wife, Toni.

Carolyn relocated to Gerry's lakefront house one year into their relationship. This was the "dream home" which Gerry, a retired restaurateur, had bought before his wife's death in July 2017. Gerry, aged 72, reportedly asked Carolyn for monthly contributions of $1,000 towards expenses, which she managed to negotiate down to $850. She is also said to have prepaid for her half of meals so that Gerry could cover the total bill in restaurants, appearing the “big man”.

According to Carolyn, their relationship turned bitter ten months after moving in together when Gerry reportedly body-shamed her prior to his high school reunion in October 2019.

Gerry responded to the allegations made by his ex on 1st December, stating that he is surrounded by positivity and doesn't have the time or inclination to dwell on such matters.

“Rather than reflecting on such comments, I am looking to the future with optimism. I am lucky to have the love of Theresa [Nist], my partner, in my life,” he added.

In response to questions about the veracity of Carolyn's claims, the former ABC lead indicated that he had not scrutinized them for accuracy. “I've mainly considered the timing of these allegations and how they seem out of sync with the positivity that is my life at present," he said. "As I sit with Theresa, who is the love of my life, I genuinely don’t have time for any of this."

Carolyn's allegations contradict what Gerry confessed on season 1 of The Golden Bachelor, where he stated that he hadn’t dated following his wife’s death in 2017. However, he did tell People on November 29th that he tried online dating after losing Toni.

Amidst the ongoing controversy, Theresa, aged 70, appears to be standing by Gerry. The couple is set to get married on 4th January in a wedding special to be aired on ABC.
