The latest season of The Crown on Netflix has been unveiled, with Elizabeth Debicki reprising her role as Princess Diana.

The first part of The Crown's sixth season premiered in the UK today (Thursday 16 November), with four episodes ready to be streamed. This season explores the relationship between Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed, culminating in a tragic car accident.

Australian actress, Elizabeth Debicki, 33, represents Diana in her final days, having first portrayed the Princess of Wales in the fifth season of The Crown.

Her previous portrayal received numerous nominations, including an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series, and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series.

However, beyond her acclaimed performance in the royal series, what more is known about Elizabeth and her other roles?

Elizabeth was born on 24 August 1990 in Paris, France, to a Polish father and an Australian mother of Irish heritage. Both her parents were ballet dancers who met while performing on stage. She is the eldest of three siblings, and moved with her family to Melbourne, Australia, at the age of five. Emulating her parents, Elizabeth initially trained as a dancer before deciding to focus on acting.

She proceeded to study drama at the Victorian College of the Arts in Australia and made her film debut in the Australian movie A Few Best Men in 2011, a year after her graduation. She quickly gained fame and, that same year, it was revealed she had been cast as Jordan Baker in the 2013 film version of The Great Gatsby.

Her performance in The Great Gatsby led her to win the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Elizabeth's acting career took off from there, and she appeared in such films as Macbeth as Lady Macduff, Everest as Caroline Mackenzie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as Ayesha, and Breath as Eva.

She also provided the voice for Mopsy Rabbit in the 2018 film Peter Rabbit and reprised the role in 2021 for Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway.

Additionally, Elizabeth reprised her role as Ayesha in the 2023 sequel, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Besides movies, she has taken on several TV roles, such as Missy in Rake, Dr Anna Macy in The Kettering Incident, Jed Marshall in The Night Manager, and Mrs. G in The Take.

Though she holds an impressive portfolio, Elizabeth is perhaps most renowned for her portrayal of Diana, Princess of Wales, in seasons five and six of The Crown.
