The Grammy Awards have always been a platform for artists to make bold and daring fashion statements. With its combination of creativity and luxury, the red carpet event has given birth to countless memorable looks.

In anticipation of the upcoming event, we've selected some standout moments from previous years, highlighting the outfits that left a lasting impression.

In 2000, Jennifer Lopez wore a Versace dress that ended up being more than just a fashion statement—it essentially served as the catalyst for the creation of Google Images. As the most searched term at the time, people wanted more than just text, they wanted to see J-Lo in that dress, recalls then Google CEO Eric Schmidt.

In 2014, Michael Costello designed a gown for Beyonce, complete with a nude mesh overlay for an extra special effect. The designer was elated that Beyonce opted for his creation out of all her options. And yet, the gown was marvelously handmade in roughly a day.

Cardi B's stylist, Kollin Carter, chose a vintage Mugler dress in 2019. This Venus-inspired gown was intended to create a conversation, and indeed it did. In addition to being a debatable fashion moment, it also marked one of the rare times Mugler authorized wear of an archived piece—the only other person granted such honor was Beyoncé in 2009.

Ariana Grande graced the red carpet in a fairy-tale-like Giambattista Valli gown in 2020. This signature look, complete with her trademark blonde ponytail, took over 400 yards of fabric and 200 hours to create. Yet, according to the singer herself, she was quick to change into another custom-made dress as she couldn't decide which one to wear.

In 2022, Lady Gaga made a stunning appearance in a black and white Armani Privé gown. Known for regularly challenging fashion norms, this instance was a display of pure elegance and luxury for the artist. Gaga attended the event in honor of her and the late Tony Bennett's collaborative album, Love for Sale.

Also in 2020, Lil Nas X embraced his flamboyant side with a hot pink Versace ensemble. This fashionable fusion of western and flamboyant elements was a risk that the artist felt worth taking, especially considering his urge to break away from the typical male fashion norms.
