Bryan Abasolo, Former Bachelorette contestant, Seeks Divorce from Rachel Lindsay After 4 Years of Marriage
The marriage between Rachel Lindsay, formerly of The Bachelorette, and Bryan Abasolo has come to an end. Abasolo filed for divorce from Lindsay in Los Angeles on Tuesday, January 2, according to court documents checked by Life & Style.
The 43-year-old chiropractor publicized the divorce shortly after on his social media platforms.
In a social media post, he said, "Following more than four years of marriage, Rachel and I have arrived at the painful resolution to move in different directions. My parents' lifelong marriage has instilled in me the values of family, but sometimes the love we hold for ourselves and each other means knowing when to step away. Instead of rumours swirling on internet blogs, I want you to hear this directly from me." He continued, asking for respect and privacy for both their families and friends while they chart out the next phase of their lives.
Bryan stated "irreconcilable differences" as the cause for the divorce and put their separation date as December 31, 2023. He seeks spousal support and considers their residence in North Hollywood, California, as community property. The couple does not have any children together.
Rachel, who is 38 years old, has held back from publicly reacting to the divorce filing. However, she dropped subtle hints about it on her Instagram, where she uploaded posts implying changes were happening in her life.
She fell for Bryan during season 13 of ABC’s The Bachelorette, and they later got engaged. They celebrated their love affair with a wedding held in Mexico back in August 2019, two years after their engagement.
There was a fair share of drama during the show, specifically when it came to Rachel's decision to give Bryan, a Miami inhabitant, the final rose in Spain. She was emotionally attracted to finalist Peter Kraus, but their visions of the future differed, which led to a heartfelt conversation about their future.
Despite picturing a bright future together and the beautiful things it encompassed, Peter couldn’t gather the courage to propose at the final rose ceremony. In the end, it was Bryan who proposed to Rachel, fulfilling her wish for commitment.
The ex-lawyer and her soon-to-be ex-husband kept their marriage life out of the public's view for most of their time together. For a period, Bryan stayed in Miami while Rachel resided in Los Angeles.
A few weeks prior to their separation, Rachel expressed how they refrained from publicizing their life together except for a few special occasions because of the criticism levelled at them after their stint on the show. According to her, they preferred to keep the ups and downs of their marriage under wrap, letting the public remain oblivious to their real relationship dynamics.
