We love makeup that we can apply just once, and it'll still look perfect in the office, dinner or a dance party later that night. If this sounds like you, then you'll love Teddy Makeup — the latest popular trend in the beauty industry.

Think luxury mixed with warmth: teddy coat matched with soft outlines and appealing neutrals. Teddy Makeup lets you showcase various looks — ranging from a comfortable item to a catwalk statement and even elegant lingerie that effortlessly transitions from day to night.

Synonymous with the opulent neutrals currently making waves on the fashion catwalks, Teddy Makeup seeks to imitate the approach of oversized teddy coats. These coats perfectly harmonize plush comfort with luxurious sophistication, bringing the snug vibe to high end.

According to Michelle Clark, a senior national artist at MAC Cosmetics, Teddy Makeup adds a rosy glow to familiar neutrals. "Teddy makeup is the next step to the latte makeup trend of 2023,” says Clark. “Think warm pinks, browns, and bronzes with an extra touch of soft glamour. This trend suits every skin tone and is apt for virtually any occasion."

These days, the emphasis is on soft, Nashville-based makeup artist Natalie Dresher tells us. "To attain a soft glam look, go for Teddy Makeup,” says Dresher. “Consider applying browns on the eyes and pink on the cheeks! It's adaptable and excellently transitions from work to party!”

Upon hearing 'Teddy Makeup', most people's minds immediately turn to warmth, softness, and lovable things in life. Though the teddy bear isn’t exactly a beauty symbol, there's a comforting feel related to such an item. However, Teddy Makeup is not limited to relaxing indoors or natural daytime makeup.

Says Sam Gen, a New York-based makeup artist, "The Teddy Makeup trend works for a romantic date night or red carpet event as it’s a refined, timeless look for all events. You dictate the aura you generate with your choice of eyeshadow; matte for daytime or shimmery neutrals for a sexy look."

To capture this look, you must balance soft neutrals with rosy undertones to achieve a neat and pretty look. "Based on how you style it, it can either be subtle or enticing," asserts Clark. "Regardless of how you doll up, Teddy Makeup is the look that has everyone praising your beauty!"

Start by ensuring your skin remains fresh and glowing. "The skin should be cleansed," advises Gen. "Go for a gentle bronze and a lovely pink or peach cheek blush. I'd suggest using NARS sheer glow for the foundation, LYS contour sticks, and a tinge of Makeup By Mario Cream Blush to the cheeks."

For those aiming for a flirtatious version of Teddy Makeup, Dresher proposes using a tubing mascara. "Shine your lashes with Tarte Tartlette Tubing XL mascara for a teddy bear-like, dollish effect," Dresher adds.

Employ warm browns and rosy hues to develop a soft eye makeup look. And remember to seamlessly blend everything out to eliminate harsh lines.

In terms of lips, "I prefer using a One Size lipliner in Rent Due, MAC's Silky Matte Lipstick in Honey Love and Buxom Cosmetics Plumping Gloss for an appealing shine that ties the look together,” elaborates Dresher.

If you're keen on recreating Teddy Makeup, MAC has got you covered. The brand offers a well-known color named 'Teddy', available in varieties ranging from an eyeliner to a lip color in the same appealing warm brown.

Clark also advises pairing this color with the slightly darker Costa Riche to create a two-tone look on the upper and lower lashlines.

Dresher suggests using Tarte Park Ave Princess on the eyes as eyeshadow and on your cheeks as bronzer to achieve the soft Teddy Makeup look. "This bronzer is made with Amazonian clay for a long-lasting natural finish."

You could also explore the MAC Unfiltered Nudes Connect in Color Palette, designed with 25% more pigment than any previous MAC formulation, to help create your perfect Teddy Makeup look.

Clark recommends using a mixture of the colors sonic chocolate and hidden album from the palette to create a subtle, smoked-out eyeliner look.

Another recommendation is the Makeup by Mario Cream Blush, a popular choice among beauty editors. Gen praises its lightweight formula and smooth application, making it perfect for the radiant finish that complements Teddy Makeup.

Packed with good-for-skin ingredients like hyaluronic acid, this blush also employs pearlescent particles to create a light-catching glow that looks lit-from-within.

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Eyeshadow Stick in Cinnamon

This tug-free cream eye shadow goes on smooth and lasts for hours, making it the perfect companion to a day-to-night look. The formula won’t crease or flake, and it’s even waterproof.

Cinnamon’s tones of dark red and brown deliver the kind of warm neutral this trend is going for, though you can always go for a shimmer neutral to dress it up.

Dibs Glowtour Stick

Recommended by Dresher, this double-ended stick checks both boxes for the Teddy Makeup trend: rosy and neutral. The warm brown of the contour end makes for a perfect bronzer while the range of blush shades make for the sun-kissed glow you’re looking for.

If you’re feeling extra vibrant, the shade Pink Cosmos just joined the roster and brings a bright blast of pink into the picture.
