Inside the Breakup of Taylor Swift and Matty Healy's One-Month Relationship
Taylor Swift and Matty Healy have ended their one-month relationship, according to Life & Style. "Taylor and Matt are no longer romantically involved," a source told Us Weekly. TMZ was the first to report the news, and reps for both celebrities did not immediately respond to Life & Style's request for comment.
The rumors that the two were dating started in May, just one month after Swift's break-up with Joe Alwyn, her partner of six years. Healy was seen at Swift's "Eras Tour" concert in Nashville, snapping photos of her as she performed. The musician also performed alongside opening act Phoebe Bridgers at Taylor’s second concert in Nashville on May 6 and was seen holding hands with Swift while out to dinner with Jack Antonoff and his fiancée, Margaret Qualley, in New York City on May 11. The next night, Healy sat beside Swift’s dad at her show in Philadelphia.
Swift seemingly hinted at her romance during her “Eras Tour” concert in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on May 20, saying, "I don’t know, I’ve just never been this happy in my life in all aspects of my life ever before. And I just want to thank you for being a part of that.” However, neither Swift nor Healy publicly confirmed their relationship.
Healy has faced criticism for his behavior on stage and controversies, including using the Black Lives Matter movement to promote his music in May 2020 and admitting in February to watching pornography designed to degrade and humiliate women of color during an appearance on “The Adam Friedland Show” podcast. He apologized publicly during The 1975’s concert in Auckland, New Zealand, on April 21.
Swift's fans have also had mixed feelings about Healy. In a 2016 interview with Q Magazine, Healy said that it would be “emasculating” to date Swift, which he later clarified on Twitter were taken out of context, calling Swift “one of the most gracious, hard-working, creatively gifted, and beautiful women that I have had the pleasure to meet."
