On Sunday evening at the Super Bowl 2024 in Las Vegas, there was a curiosity regarding which team and what player Taylor Swift was supporting. Shaquille O'Neal, the ex-NBA player, clarified it by gifting Swift a Judith Leiber purse, as revealed on Instagram. This football-shaped purse was encrusted with crystals and was further customised with Travis Kelce's jersey number, 87.
O’Neal posted a photo of himself, Swift, and Jamie Salter, Authentic Brands Group CEO, with the caption, “finally met @taylorswift me and @jamiejsalter gifted her an NFL Judith Leiber bag.” Judith Leiber is a brand under the Authentic Brands portfolio.
Released on the Judith Leiber website before the Super Bowl, the purse comes in color options representing the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers and retails for $4,495.
Swift attended the game dressed completely in black with dashes of Chiefs red in support of her boyfriend’s team. She carried the bag over her shoulder on a slender chain. Her attire included a Chiefs-branded bomber jacket designed by Erin Andrews, Shahla Karimi and Retrouvai ruby rings, and a “87” pendant embedded with diamonds by Stephanie Gottlieb. Notably, she also wore black boots with an “87” encrusted in red and gold visible under the pants cuffs.
Shaq and Swift had their first meeting on Sunday. Shaq expressed his anticipation to Page Six before the game, stating his wish to meet Swift and take a picture with her.
Following the Chiefs’ dramatic win in overtime, their second consecutive Super Bowl triumph, Swift had plenty to celebrate along with her new bag. There were parties and multiple gridiron kisses between Swift, Kelce, and their friends and family in the aftermath of the game.
This incident was not the first time Swift received a themed Judith Leiber purse this football season. In December 2023, at Arrowhead Stadium, Gracie Hunt, a Chiefs owner's family member, gifted Swift a Judith Leiber designed, microphone-shaped purse.
Hunt narrated to Page Six at a Super Bowl party that her mother, Tavia Shackles, convinced Kelce to buy the microphone purse for Swift. When he declined, Shackles bought it.
Hunt stated, “My mom felt like ‘If you’re not going to get it, we will gift it to Taylor as a birthday present. All women love sparkly things’.”
