Taylor Swift Shows Appreciation to Kelly Clarkson with Flowers for Every Rerecorded Album Release Following a 2019 Tweet
Taylor Swift has a habit of appreciating Kelly Clarkson with flowers every time she releases a refreshed version of her old music. Kelly Clarkson credited this tradition to a tweet she made in 2019 urging Taylor to re-record her music.
"It's actually quite amusing. I recently received flowers from her," said the 41-year-old host of The Kelly Clarkson Show while talking to E! News about 33-year-old Taylor. "She is a very thoughtful person. She told me that she sends something every time she releases some work. Recently, I also received an adorable cardigan from her when she released 1989."
In July 2019, Kelly, the American Idol alumni, proposed on Twitter that Taylor should re-record the songs whose masters she doesn't own, but with new art and incentives that'd discourage fans from buying the old versions. Kelly even pledged to purchase all the new versions just out of principle.
The tweet was made after the news broke out that Scooter Braun's company, Ithaca Holdings LLC, had bought Big Machine Records, Taylor's ex-label, and secured the rights to the masters of her first six studio albums.
Irrespective of the fact that Kelly thinks Taylor might have thought of re-recording her discography without any suggestion, she's grateful for the kindness Taylor extended.
"I like her kind nature," said Kelly. "She’s a very smart businesswoman. She would have thought of that."
Continuing to share her admiration for Swift, the "Because of You" hitmaker added, "It’s unbearable when artists who you look up to and respect want something that’s special to them. If they’re finding a loophole, they discover it. And she did it. She’s one of the best-selling artists, perhaps, of all time."
Kelly highlighted the significance of the unwavering support fans give to Taylor.
"It's great to see her fanbase solidly behind her, as it matters a lot," she further added. "She's popular for being an exceptional songwriter and the music of so many people's lives, which is her life. So, she should be allowed to own it."
At the time Taylor was releasing 1989 (Taylor's Version), her latest re-recorded album, Bloomberg News claimed her net worth had crossed $1.1 billion. However, it’s likely that the pop sensation's total earnings are significantly higher than the estimations.
The news outlet reached the $1 billion figure by calculating "assets and earnings that could be confirmed or traced from publicly disclosed figures."
These statistics indicate that the "I Know Places" crooner is "one of the few recording artists to build a 10-figure fortune almost entirely from her music," as the article put it.
According to the report, the 12-time Grammy Award winner's record-breaking Eras tour has contributed $4.3 billion to the GDP of the country as of October 2023.
"Swift Inc. is essentially a multinational conglomerate with the world’s most devoted customer base, its most charismatic CEO, and significant economic power," as stated in an article published on October 27.
