Adorable Throwback Childhood Theater Photos Show Taylor Swift as Sandy from 'Grease'
Taylor Swift, a popular pop artist, started her career as a child in Pennsylvania, participating in local theatre shows. Photos of her performing as Sandy in Grease at age 11 were shared by her former co-star.
In a post on Instagram on February 1, Tobin Mitnick thanked his mother for revealing these images showing him and Swift singing together harmoniously on warm summer evenings about two decades ago. Mitnick humorously included a note about an f-sharp in his caption. These photos were taken back in June 2000.
Swift, 34, is seen in one of the photos dressed as Sandy Olsson in full costume, with a curly blonde wig and a strapless black dress. There are also two rehearsal photos included.
Living in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania during her childhood, Swift made a transition to Hendersonville, Tennessee at 14 with a focus on pursuing a country music career. Taylor Swift, her debut album, was premiered in 2006.
Swift chose not to make any public comment on Mitnick’s nostalgic images. Packed with preparations for her impending leg of the Eras tour after a two-month-long hiatus her schedule is pretty jammed. The tour's international segments commence in Japan on February 7 with four consecutive shows at the Tokyo Dome.
Following her performances in Japan, she is set to travel to Australia for her February 16 concert. In between, she is expected to briefly return to the United States to support her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, in the Super Bowl on February 11. Apart from this, the Grammy Awards ceremony scheduled for February 4, where she's been nominated in six categories, requires her attendance too.
Swift is nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammys for her 2022 release, Midnights. If she wins this award, she will be setting history by becoming the first individual to receive this honor four times. Her past wins in this category include Fearless in 2010, 1989 in 2016, and Folklore in 2021.
In 2024, she is nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance for “Anti-Hero,” Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Karma” with Ice Spice and Best Pop Vocal Album for Midnights.
Travis Kelce confirmed on January 31 that he wouldn’t be able to accompany his girlfriend to the Grammys as he would be preparing for the Super Bowl.
Despite wishing to be there for Swift at the Grammys and see her win, Kelce said he had practice or travel scheduled for that Sunday.
