Paige from Summer House expresses fear over potential engagement
The anxiety is palpable. Paige DeSorbo shed tears when discussing her future with Craig Conover after they failed to agree on an engagement timeline.
During the April 10th episode of Summer House, Craig, who is 34, approached his girlfriend Paige, 30, saying "I want to talk to you about us," before jokingly proposing. Paige initially laughed off the comment, but Craig revealed his concerns to her about their future timeline. (The couple made their relationship public on Instagram in late 2021 after meeting in the summer of that year.)
While filming Kyle Cooke's 40th birthday hoedown party in August 2022, Craig asked Paige, "We’ve never talked about the middle chapters. How the f—k do we get there [to Charleston]?" Paige responded by explaining that even though she "always thought" she'd be engaged by the time she turned 30, things had changed, and she didn't want that anymore. "Like, we would date another year before you even proposed," the New York native admitted. Craig was surprised and asked when she intended to move to Charleston, to which Paige replied that a proposal and living together went hand in hand, and she wasn't ready to uproot her life just yet.
Paige started to cry as she explained that she didn't have any friends in Charleston, her family was in New York, and she didn't want to leave her mom. Craig reassured her, promising to visit New York if necessary, and saying, "Baby, it's going to be OK. Maybe I will come to New York. If it's for you, I would."
Although Paige admitted that she was "ready to be settled down," the thought of moving was scary. Craig tried to lighten the mood saying that he loved Charleston, but he didn't love it more than her, and he knew that she loved New York more than him. The Winter House costars laughed, and Paige said, "It's the greatest city in the world."
Paige later confided in her friend Amanda Batula that she was still hesitant about moving to the south. "The thought of getting engaged and getting married and being someone's wife is very f—king scary," Paige admitted. "Why doesn't anyone say it's terrifying?"
In October 2022, Paige told Us Weekly exclusively that she and Craig had taken the next step in their relationship. "I gave him some room and a closet," Paige said at the time. "That was my version of being engaged." Craig joked that Paige's definition of getting engaged was confusing to him, stating they had only been dating for a little over a year when people started asking him when he was going to propose.
Earlier this month, Craig confirmed that he and Paige were still together after it was rumored that they had split in late 2022. "We don't post a lot together, but she's always by my side," Craig wrote on his Instagram Story in April, accompanying it with a photo of his girlfriend.
