Two months after the shocking termination of her engagement to Carl Radke, Summer House star Lindsay Hubbard has finally broken her silence. The former pair called it quits just three months before they were set to get married.

In an interview with Us Weekly on November 1, Lindsay, 37, revealed her feelings regarding the split: “I was totally caught off guard. He completely destroyed my life," she said. “I was beside myself, furious, and had to find a way to move on all on my own. Now, I’ve reached a point where I feel good about moving forward.”

The breaking up of the couple was captured by the Summer House cameras and is expected to feature in the show's eighth season. Lindsay, however, clarified that the separation didn't happen during the time they were initially supposed to be filming.

Lindsay described Carl’s ending engagement as “degrading.” She expressed her disbelief, saying, “It would’ve been different if we had this discussion during the regular filming schedule in the summer. But the fact that he got in touch with producers, arranged for cameras, and manipulated me into having a chat [where he could dump me] after filming had already concluded is frightening. The entire world learned about it within half an hour of my finding out.”

Lindsay admitted some arguing between her and Carl, 38, over the summer months. She clarified, however, that it was nothing major. “Like any couple, we had our fair share of disagreements, but none warranted a break up,” she stated. The publicist noted a shift in Carl’s behaviour during the last two weeks of summer that left her perplexed.

Lindsay and Carl first crossed paths during the Summer House premiere in 2016. At that time, both were committed to other people and maintained a purely friendly relationship. As the story goes, Carl and Lindsay tried to take their friendship to another level in the show’s fourth season, but it turned out to be a brief endeavor. Lindsay remained a steady pillar of support for Carl during his journey to sobriety, and their matching 2021 Halloween costumes prompted speculations of a possible rekindling of their relationship. Lindsay confirmed the rumors in January 2022, announcing that she was dating Carl again. Later in the seventh season of Summer House, Carl asked Lindsay to marry him at Dune Beach, Southampton, and they began wedding planning soon after.

While the seventh season centered around Carl's proposal to Lindsay, it also highlighted her falling out with fellow cast member Danielle Olivera. Danielle, 34, was initially upset about Lindsay and Carl getting engaged, which caused tension within her friendship with Lindsay. However, they managed to mend fences after Lindsay's break up with Carl and have rekindled their friendship.

Lindsay, acknowledging Danielle’s support during her tough times, said, “She has been exceptionally amazing. I enjoyed the time I spent mending my friendships with the other women in the house. They stood by me the whole summer, especially when I was going through rough patches with Carl. They became my validation and advice givers. It actually turned into a tale of women bonding.”

Now, it seems the reality TV star is finally approaching closure and aiming to move on with her life. Although her dreams of marriage and children didn’t materialize with Carl, Lindsay's heart is still open to love.

Despite her rough journey, Lindsay remains hopeful. “I will never give up on love,” she asserted. “I have a great heart and I won't close myself off to someone who might appreciate it.”
