Lawrence gave fans a nostalgic, joy-filled surprise during their 2022 Staycation residency by bringing out Stacey Ryan for a special live rendition of “What Dreams Are Made Of”—and the internet is still buzzing.

The full performance, now available online, has sparked an outpouring of excitement as the beloved song finds a whole new generation of fans.

Before launching into the track, the band set the scene with a playful introduction. Gracie Lawrence stepped into the role of Isabella, while Stacey Ryan embodied Lizzie McGuire, turning the performance into a loving nod to the iconic coming-of-age anthem. The result? Pure pop magic.

Fans flooded social media, with one writing, “Gracie and Stacey singing together is a dream come true 😭😭😭,” while another gushed, “Oh this is DEFINITELY what dreams are made of!!!” One fan captured the moment perfectly, adding, “This and Hilary Duff being back???? 100/10.”

The viral moment feels especially fitting as “What Dreams Are Made Of” experiences a well-deserved resurgence with Hilary Duff back on tour.

Lawrence, the U.S.-based pop-soul band founded by siblings Clyde and Gracie Lawrence, hails from New York City and has been building a devoted fanbase since releasing their debut album in 2013. Their most recent release, Acoustic-ish, arrived on February 28, 2025, showcasing the band’s signature warmth in a stripped-down format.

The performance took place during Staycation, Lawrence’s first-ever hometown residency festival, which launched in November 2022 at Brooklyn Steel in New York City.

Spanning three nights—November 3, 4, and 5—the festival featured distinct themed evenings, including Wedding Night, Y2K Night, and New York Night, complete with unique setlists and costumes for each show.

2022 was a banner year for Lawrence. Their Coachella set earned them a spot on Variety’s list of the “Five Top Moments from Coachella.” That same year, the band wrapped up their hometown run with a celebratory Staycation finale following their City Parks SummerStage performance in Central Park alongside MisterWives.

Between Stacey Ryan’s surprise collaboration, the playful Lizzie McGuire homage, and the energy of Staycation, Lawrence delivered a moment fans won’t soon forget. Truly, this performance was exactly what dreams are made of.
