Selena Gomez Backs Hailey Bieber Following Justin's Instagram Comment About His Wife

Fans had an eye out for Selenerrr (Selena Gomez) and noticed that she supported Hailey Bieber (née Baldwin) one day after Justin Bieber shaded his wife for landing the cover of Vogue for the first time.
It was a big day for Hailey, 28, on Tuesday, May 20, because not only did she grace the cover of Vogue, but Sephora announced that they would soon sell her skincare brand, Rhode. Selena, 32, whose brand Rare Beauty is also sold at the department store, “liked” Sephora’s announcement in support of Hailey.
Fans pointed out the Only Murders in the Building star’s encouragement in the comments section of the post, leading one person to write, “Not Selena being more supportive towards hb [Hailey Bieber] than her own husband.”
Earlier that day, Justin, 31, whom Selena dated on-again and off-again between 2010 and 2018, supported Hailey’s Vogue cover via Instagram. However, his since-deleted congratulatory message aired out more of their dirty laundry rather than uplifting his wife.
“Yo, this reminds me when Hailey and I got into a huge fight. I told Hails that she would never be on the cover of Vogue,” the “Sorry” singer captioned the post. “For some reason, I felt so disrespected, I thought I gotta get even. I think as we mature, we realize that we’re not helping by getting even. We’re honestly just prolonging what we really want which is intimacy and connection. Baby you already know, but forgive me for saying you wouldn’t get a Vogue cover cuz I was sadly mistaken.”

Fans flooded the comments section with their confusion over Justin’s choice of words.
“Justin [crying emoji] idk if this is how you say congrats to your wife lol,” one person wrote, while a second fan recited Justin’s lyrics, “Is it too late now to say sorry…”
Once Justin changed his caption to emojis hours later, a third person wrote, “No shot u changed the caption after airing dirty laundry like that.”
Although the Selena versus Hailey drama has created a divide amongst fans over the years, the women have shown support for one another. In fact, the women posed for a photo together at the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles in 2022.
Additionally, the A-listers have the same taste. Not only in men, but in their careers, too! Selena launched Rare Beauty in 2020, which was valued at $2 billion in 2024. In 2022, Hailey’s brand, Rhode, went public and the brand reportedly earned $90 million in the final two months of 2024.
“People think that achieving billionaire status is very much within her reach, too — thanks to Rhode,” an insider exclusively told Life & Style in April. “She launched the line less than three years ago, and the success she’s already had is absolutely phenomenal. Hailey could cash out today, but she’s made it very clear she is in this for the long haul.”
The insider noted that “some assume she’s slapping [Justin’s] name on the products just to make a buck. But the truth is, Hailey has developed each product from the ground up with the goal of creating skincare that actually works.”
