Selena Gomez is Confident That Her Relationship With Benny Blanco Will Endure

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco could not be more in love. However, there was a time when the music producer, 37, wasn’t so sure the pop star, 32, liked him. “I thought she hated me,” Benny dished during a joint appearance on Jay Shetty’s podcast. He even went as far as to try and set Selena up with one of his pals. “I was talking to her and said, ‘Oh my God, I have so many good single guy friends,’” Benny recalled. “‘We have dinners at the house all the time.’”

They began texting and it was then, Selena confessed, that she started to fall for her future fiancé. After over a year of dating, the couple announced their engagement in December 2024, but the proposal, much like their relationship, nearly didn’t happen. The plan was for Benny to pop the question at what Selena thought was a shoot for their new album, I Said I Love You First. “She almost didn’t even come,” he revealed on The Tonight Show. “She was just upset with me because the day before, I was making bad lies” to hide the surprise. Fortunately, the singer did show up — to what turned out to be a Taco Bell picnic for two — and she, of course, said yes.

“Selena adores Benny and she’s got zero doubt in her mind that they’ll last,” a source exclusively tells Life & Style. “She wouldn’t have [accepted] his proposal otherwise.”
