Romy Reiner shared glimpses of a fun-filled family vacation on Instagram just two weeks ago, posting photos on November 29 and December 1. The carousel of images and videos showed Reiner, 28, swimming in the ocean with her parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner.

In the caption of her December 1 post, she wrote, “Thankful for family, health, and followers of any age. Not thankful for the president and the state of our country.”

Tragically, both Rob and Michele were found dead inside their Los Angeles home on December 14.

Calls to the Los Angeles Fire Department came in at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 14. First responders arriving at the residence discovered the victims, who were later identified as Rob and Michele Reiner.

According to Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department records, their son, 32-year-old Nick Reiner, was taken into custody on Monday and booked for murder. The suspect was found and arrested around 9:15 p.m., police said

.A news release from police stated that Nick Reiner is now considered a suspect in the deaths of his parents.

Reiner is currently being held without bail, according to police. Jail records have previously said he was being held on $4 million bail.

Rob Reiner, 78, was a towering figure in Hollywood, first as a star of the landmark sitcom All in the Family and later as the director of classic films including This Is Spinal Tap, Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, and the beloved When Harry Met Sally.

Oscar-winning actress Kathy Bates, who starred in Reiner’s Misery, described him as “brilliant and kind, a man who made films of every genre to challenge himself as an artist.”

She added, “I’m horrified hearing this terrible news. Absolutely devastated. I loved Rob.”

Author Stephen King, whose novels inspired Stand by Me and Misery, remembered Reiner as a “wonderful friend, political ally, and brilliant filmmaker.”

King posted on X, “You always stood by me.”

Actor and director Ben Stiller also paid tribute on X, calling Reiner “one of my favorite directors” and reflecting on his wide-ranging career.

“He made some of the most formative movies for my generation,” Stiller wrote. “He came out from behind a huge comedic shadow of the great Carl Reiner and went from TV actor to a great director with an incredible run of films. Spinal Tap is one of the best comedies ever made — and the list goes on. He was a kind, caring person who was really, really funny.”
