Robert Pattinson is getting ready to shoot The Batman Part II after a long acting hiatus to raise his newborn with Suki Waterhouse, and a source exclusively tells Life & Style how he’s evolved in order to handle Hollywood as a dad.

“As he approaches his 40s, Rob is finally transforming into the serious, responsible and reliable guy everybody knew was always in him,” an insider says of the Tenet actor, 38. “Rob is in this for the long haul. He’s taking his responsibility as a breadwinner seriously and he’s planning for his family’s future by taking control of his destiny right now.”

“The old persona is gone and when you’re dealing with Rob these days, you feel like you are talking to a fully realized adult who is very focused on giving his family a good life and doing that by making excellent movies,” the source continues. “Rob finally understands he has the talent and the will to pull this off, and in that sense, he’s like a man on a mission.”

Rob and fiancée Suki, 32, welcomed their first child, a daughter, in March. He spoke about fatherhood while attending the Dior Homme Menswear Spring/Summer 2025 show on June 22.

In video of a conversation posted to X, Rob was seen talking to a fellow attendee, saying he wasn’t staying long in Paris, France, as he “had to get back for the baby,” revealing he had a “girl” and that she was “so cute.”

The actor has been open about the challenges he underwent after rocketing to stardom at 21 years old when he landed the lead role of vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight film saga. The first movie was released in 2008, while the final installment dropped in 2012. In the process, Rob’s romance with costar Kristen Stewart had him in the headlines for his relationship as much as his acting skills.

Rob joked that he “stopped mentally progressing around the time when I started doing those movies” in an interview with Variety in 2018 while promoting his sci-fi film High Life.

However, he was able to look back on the Twilight era a bit more fondly as time progressed.

“It’s lovely now that the mania is not so intense,” Rob told USA Today in 2019. “People come up [to me] and just have very fond memories of it. It’s a really sweet thing. I think the only scary part was right in the thick of it all, when it was very, very intense. Now the intensity has died down and it’s just very warm memories.”

That same year, Rob revealed the pressure he felt about landing the role of Batman in Matt Reeves‘ take on the comic book superhero.

“It’s crazy shoes to fill,” he told Variety in September 2019. “Batman was really the only superhero I had a connection with when I was growing up. I was obsessed, it made it very very daunting.”

The film was released in March 2022 and audiences ate up Rob’s take on the character. He’s reprising the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne in the sequel, which is set for release in October 2026.

Director Matt Reeves finally shared a brief tidbit on the highly-anticipated film’s plot details in a Monday, November 11 interview with Digital Spy. He revealed Rob’s character will be entering a new phase where he finds it “very hard to be Batman.”
