Queen Camilla Continues to Support James Corden | Vanity Fair

On Tuesday, Queen Camilla hosted some of Britain’s biggest stars of the stage and screen at Buckingham Palace, and they greeted her with a surprise performance. During a National Theatre reception in the palace’s Green Room, stage actress Sharon C. Clarke, Doctor Who’s Ncuti Gatwa, and The Windsors’ Hugh Skinner took to the stage to perform a scene from the Oscar Wilde play The Importance of Being Earnest.

The event’s guest list also included Cate Blanchett, Andrew Garfield, James Corden, Downton Abbey star Jim Carter, and his wife Imelda Staunton, who played Queen Elizabeth in the final seasons of The Crown. Camilla hosted the event as patron of the National Theatre, a position she took on after Meghan Markle, who held the job from 2019 to 2021, left her royal role.

Following the performance, Camilla mentioned her love for the show and approved of Clarke’s performance as Lady Bracknell. “It’s one of my favorites, it’s so funny, it really makes me laugh,” the queen said, per The Telegraph. “You are brilliant at it, you got her spot on.”

After a year where health challenges kept the queen and King Charles III from working a full schedule, the couple have been making a slew of public appearances in 2025. They have also been entertaining privately According to Hello!, the royals also hosted a Valentine’s Day dinner party for a dozen of their close friends last Friday.

“It was a quiet dinner for close friends—about 12 in all,” a source told the magazine. “The king and queen then spent the whole weekend in Windsor, which is quite unusual.”
