In the past, the words "nurse shoes" and "stylish" rarely went hand in hand. Fortunately, today's footwear market for healthcare workers has undergone significant changes. Medical professionals can now endure 12-hour shifts without sacrificing their foot comfort for style. Not long ago, while researching the best shoes for nurses, I discovered Clove. This Philadelphia-based footwear brand is dedicated to creating the ideal footwear for healthcare workers that do not resemble traditional healthcare worker shoes. Nurses report they experience "zero foot pain" even after working 12-hour shifts in these stylish sneakers.

The design considerations for Clove's signature shoe, the Clove Classic, included a few important factors. These shoes needed to resist slips and fluid, clean easily, offer comfort, and of course, look stylish. With an upper made from Clarino microfiber that mimics real leather and stretches over time, these sneakers feature cushioned soles just under 2 inches tall and weigh approximately 10 ounces each.

These shoes have received the seal of approval from both the nurses and other healthcare workers who wear them and the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) for promoting foot health. They are also included in our Best Nurse Shoes List, earning the title of Best Slip-on as selected by podiatrist Dr. Bruce Pinker, DMP, of New York’s Progressive Foot Care.

Apart from their practicality, the Classic sneaker is available in a wide variety of colors and patterns, including six core colors, four floral varieties, and eight limited-edition hues, as well as whole and half sizes ranging from 5 to 12.5.

Clove shoes have received an impressive 4.9-star rating from over 7,000 customers who have reviewed them. One customer exclaimed, "Super comfortable especially when working 12-hour shifts. My feet no longer hurt like they used to." A nurse practitioner, who suffers from various foot conditions, including a flat arch, bunions, plantar fasciitis, and wide feet, recommended them as an “amazing purchase” but advised going up half a size for ample space. Another healthcare worker shared their struggle throughout their nursing career to find shoes that did not hurt their feet, legs, or back until they found Clove. "These are by far the best shoes I’ve ever had for work," they commended.

But Clove's fanbase isn't limited to nurses. A vet tech with plantar fasciitis vouched for their comfort and got a second pair, while a medical assistant claimed they feel “like walking on air.” A pharmacist also praised how well they held up compared to their other work shoes. "I'm not in as much pain after a 13-hour day,” they said, highlighting the shoes' stylish design on top of all.

While I am not a nurse and don't spend 12 hours a day on my feet, I can say from my own experience that these shoes are extremely stylish and comfortable. The brand sent me a pair to test out, and if I didn’t know they were specifically designed for healthcare workers, I would have never guessed.
