In a discussion with CNN on Thursday, the ex-governor of South Carolina expressed to Jake Tapper: “I cannot understand why there’s this fixation. Taylor Swift is permitted to have a boyfriend. She is an excellent artist. I have even taken my daughter to her concerts. The idea of having such bizarre conspiracy theories about this is disconcerting. No one can predict who she will endorse, but it’s astounding that this has become the center of our national politics.… I sincerely believe that the least of our worries should be who Taylor Swift is in a relationship with and which conspiracy theory will have her supporting a candidate for president."
