Exclusive: Nicole Murphy Hopes for the Best for 'Brother' Jamie Foxx through Prayer
Nicole Murphy is sending her best wishes to longtime friend Jamie Foxx as he recovers from a recent hospitalization. Murphy, a model and Foxx's close friend of many years, shared with PEOPLE that she hasn't spoken to the actor since he was hospitalized with a "medical complication" almost two weeks ago. "I just pray everything will be okay," she said. "We love Jamie. You know, he's so talented and he's an iconic person. He's just amazing. He's like a brother to me, and I adore him." Foxx's daughter, Corinne Foxx, announced the medical emergency on April 11th, but little has been shared publicly about his condition since then. Multiple sources close to Foxx have reported that he is steadily improving as he continues to recover in a medical facility in Georgia.
"He's OK, thank God," a source recently said. "He's still in the hospital and doctors are running tests, but he's awake and alert. They're keeping him under observation."
Murphy's message of support came from the Gervonta Davis versus Ryan Garcia boxing match at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Foxx is known for attending boxing matches in Vegas, but was unfortunately absent due to his hospitalization. Despite missing her friend, Murphy remains hopeful for his well-being, stating, "He needs to be here, but he's gotta get well." Foxx's medical incident occurred while he was in Georgia filming for the upcoming Netflix movie, Back in Action, though it did not happen while he was on set and he was not transported to the hospital by an emergency vehicle. Production resumed soon after with a stunt double and photo double standing in for Foxx out of concern for his health.
