Moschino's Creative Director, Davide Renne, Passes Away
Moschino has reported the sudden passing of its creative director, Davide Renne.
Date: Nov 10, 2023
The fashion realm stands shattered following the premature death of Davide Renne, the 46-year-old designer from the Italian Aeffe group's spearhead firm. Renne had assumed the creative director's mantle for Moschino recently. His appointment in October was supposed to culminate in the unveiling of his maiden collection for the brand at the February-held Milan Fashion Week.
The designer met with his tragic end on November 10, Friday, at a Milan hospital. Moschino broke the news via a press release stating, 'Davide assumed his post as creative director just a few days ago on November 1, 2023. Indeed, we are unable to articulate the immeasurable torment that we're enduring during these devastating times. Davide had just joined our ranks when an unexpected malady snuffed out his young life prematurely. The reality of his absence still hasn't sunk in,' as expressed by Massimo Ferretti, Aeffe's executive chairman.
Renne, an inhabitant of Follonica in Tuscany, is a Polimoda school in Florence alum. He embarked on his career journey at Alessandro Dell'Acqua, which led to a two-decade stint with the high-end fashion house, Gucci. During his tenure, he served as the design director for women's ready-to-wear collections. He recently exited Kering to open a new chapter in his life at Moschino.
'Davide and our team were collaborating on an ambitious venture filled with optimism and exhilaration for what the future holds. In spite of his brief tenure with us, Davide quickly endeared himself and earned respect. Today, it falls upon us to take his creative vision forward,' stated Massimo Ferretti in the press release, hinting at a possible tribute to Renne at Moschino's upcoming Fashion Week event.
