After Kate Middleton revealed the “huge shock” of her cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment in a prerecorded video broadcast on the BBC on Friday, well-wishes poured in online from celebrities, fellow nobility, and commoners alike. Among those sharing their good thoughts: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The couple, who resigned from their roles as working royals in 2020, now live in California.

“We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace,” the Sussexes said in a statement to Vanity Fair.

In the video that served as the announcement of the Princess of Wales’s health news, Kate, 42, said that it has been “an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family.” Speculation has swirled in recent weeks as to her whereabouts and condition after Kensington Palace’s January 2024 statement regarding her “planned abdominal surgery” and the lengthy recovery Kate would need.

King Charles, her father-in-law, is also undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer. He shared his diagnosis in February. Harry was informed of his father’s diagnosis before any public announcements were issued, and promptly headed to the UK to visit him.
