Tod's appoints Matteo Tamburini as creative director
Italian luxury label Tod’s has introduced a new creative director, Matteo Tamburini, who will be responsible for overseeing the women's and men's collections for the brand, as announced by the company on Friday.
Tamburini will take charge of the brand’s AW24/25 collection, which will debut during Milan Fashion Week in February.
The President and CEO of Tod's Group, Diego Della Valle, praised him as “a talented creative”, expressing that his “modern vision of high quality and Italian lifestyle will certainly enhance our brand. Tamburini will lead a creative team composed of highly skilled individuals who possess a deep understanding of luxury".
Tamburini voiced excitement about his new role, stating that the brand “resonates greatly with my origins and memories. I align with the brand's commitment to high quality and style, and I am eager to leverage my expertise in this role.”
At 40, Tamburini has amassed substantial experience in the European luxury industry, having worked with brands such as Rochas, Schiaparelli, Emilio Pucci, and Bottega Veneta (since 2017), where he was involved in designing the ready-to-wear collections.
Tod's former creative director, Walter Chiapponi, left the brand this summer to assume the same position at Blumarine in the beginning of last month.
In the previous month, Tod's Group reported a 14.3% increase in its sales over the first nine months of the year, attributing it to strong sales in Europe despite the slowdown in China in Q3.
The company also revealed that all its brand saw double-digit growth in sales with robust demand from both local customers and tourists.
