John Torode's Romantic Interests: From Co-Star Marriage to Controversial Breakup - OK! Magazine
The forthright judge from MasterChef, John Torode, has had an eventful romantic journey.
Totaling a swift divorce and a marriage to his co-star, Lisa Faulkner, from the same show, his love life has witnessed numerous ups and downs.
Both John, 58, and Lisa, 51, have had former spouses. Lisa was married to Chris Coghill, renowned for his character Tony King in EastEnders, with whom she adopted a daughter called Billie.
Conversely, John was previously married to a woman named Jessica, and together they have two children.
The pair got acquainted when Lisa participated in Celebrity MasterChef. Their friendship eventually blossomed into a romantic relationship.
However, Lisa maintains that no initial romantic feelings were involved, given they both were in different relationships at the time.
'He was an adjudicator on a show I adored and I was absolutely terrified of him. He was incredibly skilled and would always provide us with advice, making us trying not to disappoint him,' she formerly stated referring to John, as reported by The Mirror.
'All I had in mind was, 'That sauce didn't turn out as planned'. Around three months had passed and I hadn’t thought of anything except food. Following my victory, we participated in The Good Food Show and alike. Although John and I always had a good camaraderie, I never considered something beyond that,' she added.
Unraveling how their relationship initiated, Lisa disclosed to the Daily Mail in 2013 everything took a turn after John penned her a letter, asking her out for a meal.
'John and I were simply friends. Until...' she stated reflecting on their romance. 'I can't pinpoint exactly when our feelings transformed, but they did. He asked me out. We went out for a meal. That altered the dynamics slightly. I am incredibly content right now. John and I are enjoying our time together, but taking it slow, given other people are involved.'
John later confessed that his letter to Lisa was a 'cowardly' gesture, but it also saved him from any awkward situation had she turned down his proposal.
He revealed to the Daily Mail, 'I had separated from my wife [Jessica] which was indeed terrible, and I was hesitant to confront Lisa directly fearing a denial, hence the letter. If she had not responded, there wouldn't have been any concern. Cowardly? Absolutely, I am as cowardly as one can be.'
John let out the secret for his blissful marriage with Lisa, claiming: 'An extraordinarily well-made bed. As we do spend a good amount of time in it! Undoubtedly, having a tranquil place to retreat to, like a bedroom, is supremely crucial. Along with pleasant towels...Self-care is as essential as caring for each other.'
In an interview, Lisa also expressed her joy regarding their relationship, exclaiming, 'We fancy each other a lot!' She recently demonstrated her pride for John, who was bestowed with his MBE by Prince William at Buckingham Palace in February. 'I felt really proud of John,' she told OK!
'It's a commendable accomplishment and meeting Prince William was the icing on the cake! Of all the royals, he's the one I would have loved to meet!'
