Madeleine White Responds to Criticism for Attending Rave With Pink Eye: 'I Was Unaware It Was Contagious'

TikTok star Madeleine White is speaking out after sparking major backlash online for attending a music festival while battling pink eye.

The influencer, who just turned 30, posted a now-viral TikTok on November 8 showing herself getting ready for the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) in Orlando, Florida — despite visibly red eyes. “I’m just going to cover it up with sparkles and a pair of sunglasses and call it a goddamn day,” Madeleine told followers as she applied her makeup.

The creator explained that she caught conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eye, from her husband, Andrew Fedyk — one half of the DJ duo Loud Luxury. According to Madeleine, Andrew “gave himself” pink eye after using green makeup for his Halloween costume. “I really didn’t know that it was contagious,” she said in the clip. “I thought he got it from the makeup. I didn’t know that I could get it. I was definitely nowhere near as cautious as I should’ve been with him.”

The confession didn’t sit well with viewers, many of whom called her out for attending a crowded rave while knowingly having a contagious condition. “Going out with pink eye is wild,” one user commented, to which Madeleine fired back, “This is my first time hearing in my life you’re expected to stay home with conjunctivitis.. in UK we wash hands, don’t touch eyes and continue as normal.”

In a follow-up video on her secondary TikTok account, Madeleine seemed to double down on her stance, writing over the clip, “Today I learned conjunctivitis / pink eye is treated very differently in the US than the UK lol,” as she mouthed along to a shocked reaction sound. She captioned it, “Back in the day I didn’t even get a day off school for this…”

Despite the backlash, Madeleine didn’t appear to let the controversy ruin her milestone birthday. After celebrating at EDC with Andrew, she shared a carousel of photos on Instagram that included a shot from the rave — her eyes still slightly red. “30, flirty + in bed for the foreseeable future ❤️ feeling very loved,” she captioned the post.
