Criticism for Kristen Cavallari's Controversial Stance on First Date Sex
Kristin Cavallari sparked controversy when she expressed her views on the appropriate timing for women to get intimate with men they are dating. She made this comment on her "Let's Be Honest" podcast, and it garnered a load of attention after she posted it on Instagram.
"For the past two years or so, I've been suggesting that women should have him wait three or four dates," disclosed the 36-year-old Laguna Beach alumna. "But I don't think it's that important. It doesn’t matter whether you sleep with him on the first date or the 10th date. If there’s mutual attraction and emotions, it wouldn't make a difference."
She substantiated her viewpoint by mentioning, “I came across a relationship coach's post which said that 90% of couples who claim to be in the best relationships or have found 'the one' got intimate on the first or second date. Hence, I don’t feel it's a big deal.”
Numerous criticisms bombarded the comments section of her post, which persisted for several days after she posted the clip.
“That’s deplorable,” one individual commented. “Kristin, you need to reconsider. This is devastating advice for women.” A secondary commenter chimed in, “Proceed with sleeping with a man on the first date and see how rapidly he loses interest in you,” while a third stated, “This is tragic. Where did this dating coach acquire their data? Raise your self-worth and you’ll find you attract better men.”
Yet, there were many who showed their support for the former MTV celebrity. Numerous devoted female followers confessed they were intimate with their current husbands on the first date.
Kristin introduced “Let’s Be Honest” in September with an emphasis on "all aspects of relationships." The reality TV star's personal life has been under public scrutiny since her separation from Jay Cutler in 2020 (they divorced in 2022). On a recent episode of the podcast, she disclosed that Tyler Cameron, a former Bachelorette contestant, was the “most attractive guy” with whom she had a fling.
“It’s hard for me to believe this too… he’s more attractive in person,” she shared. “It’s unbelievable. So yes, hats off to you, TC.”
The duo was initially connected after they were spotted getting cozy during a photo shoot for Kristin’s Uncommon James brand in 2022. Nevertheless, they later acknowledged that the public display of affection was solely for publicity. They caught up for a date on New Year’s Eve, but their relationship didn't go beyond a casual fling.
Kristin and Jay, 40, have three children together – Camden, 11, Jaxon, 9, and Saylor, 8. “For me, the priority is always the kids,” she confessed in 2021. “The kids are all that matter and whatever's best for them. That's how I perceive it. You have just got to make the best out of it."
