Stephanie Shepherd, Former Assistant to Kim Kardashian, Reveals She Was 'Let Go in a Polite Manner'
Stephanie Shepherd, formerly employed as the assistant to Kim Kardashian, shared her thoughts on losing her job as COO of KKW Brands, an event that happened six years prior.
“This was a big issue when it occurred. I was let go, but it was done in the most gentle way possible. We both shed tears because of our friendship,” said Stephanie, aged 33, in the “The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast” episode aired on October 23. “This friendship is quite significant to both of us.”
Also known as “Steph Shep,” Stephanie reminisced about her time as an employee of Kim Kardashian, 43, describing it as an "exhilarating" experience. She spoke highly of the work ethic and business practices of the entire Kardashian clan, even comparing her tenure to completing a postgraduate degree.
Stephanie, an active environmental advocate, also acknowledged that it was time to wrap up her professional association with Kim. “There have been instances in my life where I felt the need to move on. I wasn’t sure if there was anything more I could bring to the table in this situation,” she elucidated. “I believe she picked up on that sentiment.”
Stephanie further revealed that Kim always encouraged her growth and success. She even refers to their professional separation as “the most amicable split” during which she continued to seek Kim’s counsel in personal and professional matters.
Stephanie's journey with Kim started in 2013, when she was hired as Kim’s personal assistant. Though, in 2017, she desired to elevate her career and assume a larger responsibility within Kim's ventures, it didn't work out as planned.
The news of Kim deciding to fire Stephanie was first disclosed by People in November of 2017. A source reported, “Kim opted to let Stephanie go. She had been a commendable assistant, but when Stephanie desired to shift into a more significant role within Kim's brand and businesses, it just didn't pan out. Despite giving her the opportunity, it quickly became evident that Stephanie lacked the necessary expertise for such a role. Therefore, Kim made an executive decision to part ways.”
Initially, there seemed to be a fallout between the reality television star and her assistant post Stephanie's termination and according to People, the two “weren't on speaking terms.” However, it seems they managed to reconcile later on.
In June 2023, Stephanie tied the knot with record producer Larry Jackson, and several members of the Kardashian family were present. Ever since her split from Kim, Stephanie has gone on to establish her own non-profit organization, Future Earth.
