Keke Palmer Discusses Hyperpigmentation, Acne-Care Picks, and Transformation into Motherhood
Does it feel affirming when you find out a public figure struggles with the same issues you face daily? You're about to have that experience.
Actress, host, entrepreneur, and new mom, Keke Palmer is someone who knows what it's like to deal with common problems such as acne and hyperpigmentation. However, she's not just confronting these obstacles; she's unveiling her arsenal, which involves the newest product from the skin-care brand revered by experts, La Roche-Posay.
Introducing: La Roche-Posay MelaB3 Serum. With 18 years of medical investigations and a 5-month clinical trial to its name, this serum zeroes in on and neutralizes even the toughest dark spots on the skin.
According to La Roche-Posay, the serum responds to the third most prevalent issue among facial moisturizer/treatment users in the United States, which is dark spots. The secret component? Melasyl, a revolutionary molecule devised by innovation at L’Oreal.
In conjunction with this introduction, we caught up with Keke Palmer to discuss matters of skincare, acne, podcasts, and the pleasures of motherhood.
Her history with skin discoloration and hyperpigmentation is extensive, Palmer shared. The struggle with acne has been there since she was 12 years old. Despite an acne-free face, there would always be the issue of discoloration, according to Palmer. The issue of dark spots is a major concern among melanated individuals, even after successful skin-clearing.
Palmer first encountered La Roche-Posay in her quest for effective skincare to treat her complexion. She became familiar with them casually before they began collaborating. The reintroduction in a professional setting sparked her interest in the brand's new MelaB3 product.
She's just starting to use MelaB3 and already learning a lot from it. Palmer applies it twice a day, expressing her eagerness to see the effects. From her previous positive experiences with their other products, she has faith in the efficacy of MelaB3.
Interestingly, her skin was in better condition during her pregnancy. Palmer recounts how her postpartum acne re-emergence was a significant shock.
She attributes her skincare success to product consistency, with La Roche-Posay's clear cleanser in a blue bottle being a personal favorite. She also loves their skin balm, using it daily. Palmer dismisses the misconception about drying out the skin, explaining that hydration helps regulate sebum production and reduce acne outbreaks.
While she finds comfort in hosting and music, Palmer enjoys channeling different facets of herself through her acting roles. She loves acting for its potential to explore the depth of her persona.
As for her dream podcast guests, Palmer cites Neil deGrasse Tyson and Taylor Swift. She admires Swift for her business acumen and advocacy against misogyny. She’d also love to interview Beyoncé, albeit acknowledging that she rarely spares time for conversations.
“It is. I think when you have a baby, there’s something about life that becomes so much clearer. It puts everything into perspective. It really became so much easier for me to know what I wanted to be a part of my life and what I didn’t want a part of my life when I have someone that needs me to be my best. So it allows you to really understand it, to cut through the bullshit so to speak, because you don’t want anything that’s going to impede on you being everything that you need to be for this little person that is depending on you.”
