Hollywood's Biggest Star Continues the Night: Afterparty Photos Following the 2023 Met Gala

The Met Gala may be over, but the fun is just beginning with the afterparties! Hollywood’s biggest stars put on their best looks for the 2023 Met Gala on Monday, May 1st, but the real excitement happens in New York City after the event.

While some guests choose to stay in their red carpet attire, many switch into a completely new outfit before heading out to one of the afterparties. There were several events throughout the city, including one at Zero Bond, the ApresMET party, and the Boom Met Gala Afterparty hosted at The Standard Hotel.

Olivia Rodrigo swapped out her red carpet gown for a stunning silver dress, and Kendall Jenner made a bold outfit change by wearing a black thong over sparkly shorts.

The event was hosted by Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, pop star Dua Lipa, screenwriter Michaela Coel, actress Penelope Cruz, and tennis star Roger Federer. Together, the chairs and attendees celebrated the life of the late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld with the new exhibit, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.”

Prior to the event, Andrew Bolton, the Costume Institute’s Wendy Yu Curator in Charge, encouraged guests to honor Karl Lagerfeld with their outfit choices. He explained that the exhibition would not be a traditional retrospective, but would focus on the evolution of Karl’s two-dimensional drawings into three-dimensional garments.

After the night is over, the exhibition will be open to the public at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Fashion Institute. Until then, we can only wait for next year’s Met Gala!
