Instagram users have been using filters non-stop after pop star Taylor Swift revealed her upcoming eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, during her acceptance speech at the Grammys. Swift seems to have embraced a full sepia-tone aesthetic leading up to the album, including a dark and dramatic photo that features the tracklist for the album and a gloomy statement that reads, “I love you, it’s ruining my life.”

The phrase “you” has left fans wondering if it could be referring to her former boyfriend, British actor Joe Alwyn. This suspicion is based on the fact that the album was created during and after the conclusion of Swift's roughly six-year romantic relationship with Alwyn. Could Alwyn be the sepia-toned “you” that is supposedly ruining her life?

Interestingly enough, Alwyn, who is known for keeping his personal life private, shared his first Instagram post in about half a year on Monday. This post consisted of a carousel of 10 caption-less photos, featuring a black and white mirror-selfie as the first image.

As everyone eagerly anticipates the April 19 release of The Tortured Poets Department, speculating about the inspirations behind the songs “So Long, London” and “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived”, and while Swift continues to hint at her past relationship with Alwyn, Alwyn himself has been sharing a mix of intriguing photos. His posts range from a picture of his dog to a meme from the original British version of The Office featuring Ricky Gervais.

Swift, on the other hand, is currently in Australia for her Eras Tour. In her latest Instagram update, she shows her new boots from her Lover set. Plus, her new beau Travis Kelce has given a rave review of her new album, calling it “unbelievable.”

The collection of images shared by Alwyn certainly is enigmatic, fully embodying the saying “life’s a rich tapestry”. As for Alwyn, he appears to be weaving some sort of narrative with his uploads…possibly?
