NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson recently opened up about the loss of several family members, which includes the tragic deaths of his wife Chandra Janway Johnson's parents and brother. Taking to Instagram on July 28, Johnson expressed the devastation their family is feeling and thanked everyone for their support during this difficult time.

On June 26, officials discovered the bodies of Johnson's three family members in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The local law enforcement responded to a 911 call reporting a disturbance and gunshots. According to Muskogee Police spokesperson Lynn Hamlin, investigators believe Terry Lynn Janway shot and killed her husband, Jack Janway, and 11-year-old grandson Dalton before taking her own life.

Following the tragic incident, Johnson withdrew from the NASCAR Cup Series event in Chicago. In a statement, his racing team, Legacy Motor Club, requested privacy for the Johnson family, and no further comments were made at that time.

NASCAR also released a statement expressing their support and condolences to Johnson's family. They acknowledged the tragic deaths and extended their deepest sympathies to Chandra, Jimmie, and both the Johnson and Janway families.

Jimmie and Chandra have been together for over two decades. They met in 2002 through NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon and tied the knot in 2004. They have two daughters together.

Jimmie Johnson grew up in El Cajon, California, in a modest two-bedroom house. His father, Gary, worked as a truck driver and later as a heavy equipment construction operator for B.F. Goodrich. His mother, Cathy, was a school bus driver. Jimmie has two brothers, Jarit and Jessie, who are also involved in racing.

Chandra's father was a chiropractor and had several children with Terry Lynn. Unfortunately, both Jack and Terry Lynn were shot and killed in June 2023. Dalton, their 11-year-old grandson, also lost his life in the tragedy. Dalton's mother, Chandra's younger sister, is a mother to another teenage son named Seth, who resides with his father, John Robison.

Another heartbreaking loss for Chandra's family occurred in 2014. Her younger brother passed away at the age of 27 due to a skydiving accident.

Terry Lynn and Jack are survived by their son Caleb, as well as their daughters Chandra and Marianne. Chandra's nephew, who was primarily living with Terry Lynn and Jack, also lost his life at the age of 11 in June 2023.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Seth, Chandra's son's half-brother, shared that his mother had struggled with drug abuse. She sought help a few years ago but unfortunately faced ongoing challenges. Seth mentioned that Dalton's father was not present for most of his life, leading his grandparents to care for him. He mentioned that Dalton was adopted by his grandparents and had lived with them since he was two or three years old.
