The 81st Golden Globes are symbolizing the onset of film enthusiasts' preferred time period, set to commence on Sunday, January 7. The event, emceed by jester Jo Koy, is anticipated to dazzle attendees. It will showcase nominated films like Barbie and Oppenheimer and box office hits and feature A-list nominees such as Jennifer Lawrence, Timothée Chalamet, and Taylor Swift.

After a grueling year marred by multiple strikes from writers and actors that crippled Hollywood, the Golden Globes ceremony on Sunday will be an important indicator of whether tinsel town has truly bounced back. The event itself isn't immune to challenges: the Globes has been steeped in turmoil for several years, prompting complete reboot of its voting panel and a shift in broadcasting networks. As the event unfolds, all of Hollywood will be watching intently to see if the Golden Globes can recover its lost prestige.

Regardless of the circumstances, the event will carry on. Keep reading to find out how to watch the Golden Globes 2024 live and see if VF correctly predicted the evening's big winners.

The 81st annual Golden Globes event is scheduled for Sunday, January 7, at the renowned Beverly Hilton. It wasn't until the last minute that CBS announced it would broadcast the event—stealing it from NBC, which aired the Globes for years until deciding to let it go after the 2021 ceremony. So, for the first time in over four decades, CBS will air the Golden Globes live at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Streaming platforms offer an alternative option for viewers. The 2024 Golden Globes live stream will be available on YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, FuboTV, DirecTV Stream, and Paramount+. Cord-cutters should note that Paramount+ will only allow streaming of the ceremony if the Showtime add-on is included in your service package. Those who don't have it will only be able to stream the ceremony the day after it takes place.

However, several streaming services provide free trials, making the ceremony accessible to more viewers. Paramount+ is also offering a one-week free trial of its "Paramount+ With Showtime" package.

Among the numerous stars attending the 2024 Golden Globes are Oprah Winfrey, Angela Bassett, America Ferrera, Florence Pugh, Will Ferrell, Daniel Kaluuya, Michelle Yeoh, Issa Rae, Amanda Seyfried, George Lopez, Julia Garner, Hailee Steinfeld, Shameik Moore, Simu Liu, Justin Hartley, and Suits stars Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. Adams, who will all be presenting awards during the night.

When chatting with Vanity Fair, Jo Koy admitted to overpreparing for the massive hosting gig by writing tons of jokes and seeking advice from friends. The Asian comic feels a sense of responsibility, saying, “I am the first solo Asian to do this. I know what this means to a lot of people, especially the younger kids that are indirectly being inspired by this. So I’ve got to come through for them.”

Jo Koy is aware that this year's Golden Globes represent the start of a new chapter signaling growth and course correction from the past. “That’s what moving forward is all about. We learn from our mistakes. The Golden Globes, it’s moving forward too. It’s made its shared mistakes and now, we’re moving forward, and in the right direction.”
