"Will 'Heated Rivalry' Season 2 Return? Latest Updates on the Steamy Hockey Drama"
Heated Rivalry has quickly become one of the most talked-about shows of the year, and fans are already hooked on the steamy tension between its two hockey stars. The book-to-TV adaptation, based on Rachel Reid’s popular Game Changers series, first premiered on Canadian streamer Crave before making its way to HBO Max — and the buzz hasn’t slowed down since. With only a few episodes out so far, viewers are already asking the big question: will there be a second season?
Whether you’re new to the series or have been cheering on Shane and Ilya since the original novels, here’s everything we know about the future of the show.
The series follows rival players Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie), who — despite their competitive careers — “fall into a secret romance that spans years as they chase glory and wrestle with love.” The official logline reveals that while the pair are focused on winning on the ice, they struggle even more with their feelings off it, finding themselves “torn between the sport they live for and the love they can’t ignore.”
Season 1 features Williams as the Montreal Metros’ captain and Storrie as the Boston Raiders’ star player. The show also boasts a strong supporting cast, including François Arnaud, Christina Chang, Sophie Nélisse, Robbie G.K. and Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova.
Officially? Not yet. But fans have plenty of reason to stay hopeful.
While early reports described the series as a limited run, the massive audience response could easily push Crave to order another season. The show has become a major hit for both Crave and HBO Max, and social media has played a big role in building excitement around Shane and Ilya’s dynamic.
Even author Rachel Reid hinted that she’s rooting for more episodes. In a blog post from September, she shared that she’s “hoping for more seasons, but if one season is all we get, I am forever grateful to Jacob and his production partner, Brendan Brady, and to Bell Media/Crave for giving me six incredible episodes.”
