Exclusive: Jennifer Aniston Discusses Her "Moody Hair," Scalp Care, and LolaVie's Major Launch
Jennifer Aniston has spent decades answering questions about her hair—the styles, the shine, the cultural moment that never quite ended. As the all-around icon heads into the new year, she’s turning the conversation to something most people don’t think about: the scalp. The timing coincides with the launch of LolaVie’s Let There Be Hair Scalp Serum ($49), marking her hair-care brand’s biggest move yet into dedicated scalp care.
For Aniston, the launch feels both personal and a bit overdue. “What we don’t realize is that healthy hair starts with our scalp,” she explains. “This is something that has been brought to my attention in the last couple of years, which is why we’ve made our scalp scrub and then, of course, the serum. It’s just as important to take care of our scalp as it is our face and our bodies and all of the skin, all over the body.”
She says the formula came together slowly, but notes that was by design. “It took us some time to get it right, but it’s been worth the wait because we love it. It’s our new favorite.”

Anyone who has followed Aniston’s relationship with hair knows she’s discerning about what she uses, and even more selective about what she puts her name on. The biggest hurdle in creating the serum was nailing the texture. “I always shy away from serums if they’re going to leave some sort of a weird sticky texture or can ruin a blow dry or add water, moisture to your hair,” she admits. “I would say it was really about getting that texture just right.”
Even with her historical hair status, Aniston insists her strands are far from predictable. “My hair is very moody. And I mean very moody!” she says with a laugh. “It can do a bunch of different things every single day. If it’s humid out, I’m screwed.” She turns to her tried-and-true staples to manage the chaos. “That’s why I rely on these products—all of the different LolaVie products are my saviors for all the different moods that my hair likes to take on.”
When asked what industry standard she wishes she could reinvent, her answer is simple and universally relatable: “It’s time, the amount of time, the consistency that you need to take care of our hair,” she says. “When you’re younger, you take for granted the volume and the shine and all of that. I wish I’d known about hair care, taking care of our scalp and our hair from a younger age…if only we knew earlier.”
She jokes that keeping up with her color now means more salon appointments than she ever expected. “By the way, now it’s almost every two weeks. It’s crazy! The highlights help, but it’s just a drag. It’s endless.”
Aniston laughs when asked if there are products she wishes she had two decades ago. “The scalp scrub, I would say. The serum would also be great,” she says, adding that her mother instilled early skin-care habits, but hair care wasn’t necessarily part of that education. “My mom taught me to start washing my face and using serums when I was in high school. If only she’d known about the scalp. Help the girl out!”
Looking ahead to the new year, Aniston says she’s already pretty consistent with her wellness, fitness and beauty routines, but she’s focusing on a different form of self-care in 2026. “I want to slow down and de-stress…and work on not taking so much on at once,” she reflects. “My eyes are bigger than my stomach. I’m going to be very mindful of what I say yes to.”
It’s a fitting mindset for a launch rooted in foundations. And with LolaVie’s Scalp Serum arriving at Ulta in January, Aniston is ready to help everyone start there.
