"UK Heatwave to Reach 32°C on Specific Date as Weather Maps Turn Red - OK! Magazine"
UK weather maps reveal a 32C heatwave sweeping across nearly all of England and Wales. WXCharts predicts sizzling temperatures towards the end of next week, 30 August, which could potentially trigger thunderstorms.
The southeast, including London and Canterbury, is set to be the hottest with temperatures soaring up to 32C. The Midlands, covering Birmingham and Peterborough, along with parts of the north like Manchester and Liverpool, will follow closely with highs of 30C and 31C. The southwest, including Plymouth and Exeter, East Anglia, featuring Norwich and Ipswich, and Wales, encompassing Conwy and Cardiff, will experience temperatures between 25C and 28C.
Northern Ireland, with cities like Derry and Belfast, will be the coolest, with temperatures reaching up to 23C. The north of England, including Newcastle and Carlisle, will be slightly warmer with highs of 25C. This comes after the harsh weather conditions caused by Storm Lilian, which led to widespread disruption across Britain, including cancelled flights and closed roads.
Hundreds of homes were left without power as rain and winds lashed the Midlands and the north of the country.
The Met Office commented on the upcoming hot weather period: 'The southeast will likely begin fine and settled and is signalled to become very warm or hot midweek, with these conditions attempting to spread northwestwards. 'As is typical, it then becomes uncertain, how long will the hot conditions last, and details around potential thunderstorms in the hotter region.'
'It is most probable later in the week the hotter conditions will break down from the west, however even following this, for the most part, more settled, drier and warmer than average conditions are favoured during the first week of September.'
Blustery showers to keep going in the north, with some really heavy ones hitting the northwest. Down south, it's looking dryer before an area of rain makes its grand entrance during the early hours.
As the morning kicks off, heavy rain sweeps across the south but says bye to the southeast by afternoon. Then, get ready for some sunny spells and heavy showers, with those winds picking up a notch in the north and making it feel all fresh.
Come Sunday, expect showers up north while it stays mostly dry down south. Monday brings more rain to the northwest corner but drier vibes elsewhere. And on Tuesday, rain is sticking to the north but the south should escape it.
