Eva Mendes Gives Ryan Gosling Support at 2024 Oscars, Skips Red Carpet
Eva Mendes made her presence felt at the 2024 Academy Awards, despite not gracing the red carpet alongside her significant other, Ryan Gosling. While she was not seen in the spotlight, Mendes expressed her steadfast support for Gosling from behind the scenes.
In a post on Instagram dated March 10, Eva, 50, was seen next to Gosling’s dressing room for the Oscars. Accompanying the video, she wrote the caption, "Always by my man".
Meanwhile, Ryan Gosling, 43, renowned for his role in Barbie, was seen at the red carpet alongside his mother Donna, sister Mandi, and stepfather Valerio Attanasio. Gosling was set to perform “I’m Just Ken” from the popular 2023 movie. Eva was spotted backstage, attired casually in a lengthy jean skirt, white top, and denim jacket, along with a baseball cap.
The couple is known for their lack of public appearances together, the only exception being when they were promoting their film The Place Beyond The Pines in 2012. Eva clarified in an Instagram comment from April 2023, stating that they typically don't partake in such public events together, being uncomfortable with exposing their private life.
Rumours abound that Ryan and Eva are married, however, there has been no official confirmation of their relationship status. They began dating after meet on the set of the aforementioned film in 2011 and have since had two daughters - Esmeralda born in 2014, and Amada in 2016.
Mendes frequently displays obvious pride for her partner via social media, especially given Ryan’s acclaimed performance in Barbie. This sentiment was echoed by Gosling in a 2023 interview, when he declared, “It means everything”.
Her support was particularly evident when Gosling received his Oscar nomination for Barbie, with Eva expressing her pride on Instagram and defending Gosling against criticism for the role. She praised his work as ‘original, hilarious, heartbreaking, and now iconic character’ all the way to the Oscars.
Earlier the same year, Gosling accepted the Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. He confessed that his career in entertainment enabled him to meet his dream girl, Eva Mendes, and to have two dream children. He concluded by saying that his dreams of making movies have made his life a dream.
