Erik ten Hag's Message to Jadon Sancho Following Man Utd Departure
Manchester United's Jadon Sancho has been wished well by Erik ten Hag as he departs on loan to Borussia Dortmund.
Sancho, who had a public falling out with Ten Hag in September, has returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan until the season's end, in hopes of reviving his somewhat stalled career.
Following his omission from the squad for the Arsenal match, Ten Hag criticized Sancho's training performance. The winger, however, challenged this on social media, asserting that he was being unjustly blamed. His refusal to apologize led to him being left out of the first team.
With this controversy now temporarily resolved, Ten Hag was eager to move forward quickly.
'I really hope he does well, and I truly wish him all the best,' Ten Hag stated in a Friday press conference. 'That's all. I hope he performs well and finds success.'
When probed further about Sancho, the manager curtly answered: 'I have responded [to the previous question], I believe that's sufficient.'
Sancho's loan agreement with Dortmund does not have an option for a full transfer. Sebastian Kehl, Dortmund's director, candidly confessed that they could not afford such an arrangement.
Kehl, however, did suggest that a permanent transfer could be reconsidered in the summer, assuming United's financial expectations are acceptable. Upon his return to Old Trafford, Sancho will have two years left on his contract, but United has the option to extend this by an additional year.
By sending Sancho, who was signed in 2021 for £73m, back to Dortmund, United is hopeful that he will be able to raise his transfer worth. Sancho notably scored 50 goals and provided 64 assists in 137 matches during his previous tenure at Dortmund prior to his unsuccessful move to Manchester.
