Reality Star Amanza Smith's Health Updates: Cancer Diagnosis Speculations Arise from Selling Sunset

Selling Sunset’s Amanza Smith opened up about a vulnerable moment in the show’s sixth season, revealing she underwent a biopsy after seeing concerning things during a health scan. The Los Angeles-based realtor later admitted that she may have had a cancerous mass in her uterus, leaving viewers concerned for her health. In Selling Sunset season 6 episode 4, Amanza discussed her trip to the doctor and confided in costar Mary Fitzgerald about her concerning ultrasound appointment. “When they did the ultrasound, my uterus on the screen looked … There’s a lot of stuff there and I don’t know what it is. It doesn’t look good. There’s a wide array of things that it could be, and then the one thing that we pray and hope that it’s not,” the reality star said, alluding to cancer.

The Indiana native admitted she “couldn’t deal” with the possible life-changing outcome and “avoided” getting the additional tests for three months, which was a decision she “wasn’t proud of.” “I couldn’t deal with it and just completely avoided it for three months. I most recently went, and I finally had [the blood tests] … but I just realized, like, holy s–t, my kids — I’m all they have,” Amanza continued, referring to her daughter Noah and son Braker. “And then it just triggered something inside of me that, like, I realized I’m still not okay.”

Although the show left viewers on a cliffhanger regarding Amanza’s health, the Netflix star gave fans a miraculous update via Instagram and shared that she is cancer-free. “The results of my biopsy were benign! I will continue to be grateful for my health, and even more so now than ever! You realize that if it is in poor, standing, everything else falls secondary,” she captioned her May 22 post.

Amanza’s Selling Sunset castmates and Selling the OC’s Kayla Cardona rallied around her in the comments section, showing their unwavering support of her fantastic health update. In June 2023, Amanza offered fans an in-depth look into her latest health scare. She thought that she had a bulging or slipped disk, but after over a month of excruciating pain, she finally got some answers.

Amanza explained in an Instagram post that she later went to Cedar Sinai hospital and was admitted where she was immediately tested for things in her blood. Come to find out, she had an infection in her blood that had spread a great deal of infection to the bones of her spine, called osteomyelitis. Amanza was quickly put on antibiotics, but her medical team was under the impression that she had a tumor.

“Here I am, day 10, and I’m making this message a bit quickly because I’m about to go into surgery to have portions of the infection removed from my spine that weren’t getting any better by the antibiotics that I’ve been getting for 10 days [sic],” she continued. Several days later, she posted another update for fans, detailing that she was about to go in for a second round of surgery. The Selling Sunset star has kept followers updated on her condition but remains in the hospital as of publication.
