Alexandre Vauthier's Couture House in Search of Buyer Amid Challenges
The esteemed couture house Alexandre Vauthier, faced with substantial financial obstacles, is currently on the lookout for a potential buyer. This news was first broken by the economic journalism platform, L’Informé. Proceedings related to judicial administration began on Tuesday, February 13, enlisted by The Commercial Court of Paris.
Alexandre Vauthier, the celebrated design house known for its distinct silhouettes and elaborate displays, has been steered by its originator, the designer Alexandre Vauthier, for the past 15 years. The label, which is based in Paris, has a creator who was a student of Thierry Mugler and is an ESMOD graduate. The fashion house has been a regular on the official calendar of the Federation of Haute Couture and Fashion for a decade.
In default since November 20, 2023, the brand transitioned into judicial administration by mid-February. It's now in search of potential buyers with the deadline for bids set as March 8. The judicial administrator for this process is Maître Hélène Bourbouloux, who leads the Paris-based firm FHBX.
The company, owned by its initiator Alexandre Vauthier, is located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, and employs a staff of 36. It will be under scrutiny until August 13. Alexandre Vauthier declined to comment when approached regarding the situation. As per the company's financial year closing on March 31, 2023, the brand achieved a turnover of 12.7 million euros, as per the account details submitted to the Commercial Court of Paris.
Alexandre Vauthier's women's ready-to-wear and haute couture collections, in addition to leather goods and footwear, are available for purchase on its website, as well as through partner retailers such as the Neiman Marcus chain based in the US, the flagship store of Mytheresa in Munich, and Biondini, a boutique based in Paris and located in a gallery on the Champs-Elysées.
The fashion house presented its haute couture creations for the Fall/Winter 2023-2024 season at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris last July, characterized by a festive yet sober atmosphere. The brand, earlier slated to appear in the upcoming Paris Fashion Week dedicated to women's fashion, has withdrawn and won't be showcasing its work this season.
