For those who love Corrie, actor Dolly-Rose Campbell will be a familiar face. The 36 year old first joined the iconic soap opera in 2014 as Gemma Winter, and over the years, has successfully made the transition from bad girl gone good, after she was introduced as drug dealer Callum Logan's pal.

Fast forward almost a decade and Dolly, aka Gemma, has settled well into Weatherfield life, from welcoming quadruplets with veteran character Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) to bagging a job at the local takeaway, Prima Doner.

However, like any other Coronation Street resident, it's not all been plain sailing, as Gemma has been involved in her fair share of dramatic storylines. Most recently, she faced a visit from a child protection officer after she accidentally poisoned Chesney's son Joseph with some lavender oil.

But away from the cobbles, Dolly's life is completely different to that of her character. Here's everything you need to know about Dolly-Rose Campbell's life off-screen...

Dolly was born in Salford, Greater Manchester on 12 April 1987. As a teen, the 36 year old attended a youth theatre with her friend in Bolton and went on to study acting at Manchester’s Arden School of Theatre.

The school has a number of alumni who also went on to work on Corrie, including Cherylee Houston, who plays Izzy Armstrong and Tracy Shaw, who played Maxine Peacock.

Away from Coronation Street, the actor previously had a role in another rival soap opera, Doctors. Dolly took up the role of Sasha Dyson in 2010 where she played the character for a number of episodes.

However, she wouldn't make a household name of herself for another four years, when she learned she had the role of Gemma Winter a few days after taking the public Weatherfield tour.

Dolly told the Sunday Post: 'I'd had an audition before the tour but I wasn’t expecting anything. While we were walking around my friend said, 'Imagine if you got a job on it' and I was saying that would never happen. Just a couple of days later I got a call saying I had the part.'

As well as being a famous actor, Dolly passes her off-screen time with one of her beloved hobbies: knitting. The 36 year old has even been seen crafting away on set.

Elsewhere, she's also revealed that she loves spending time at home with her dog, who has made regular appearances on her Instagram.

While it's not known whether Dolly is currently seeing anyone (she tends to keep her private life exactly that, private), the Corrie star did come out as bisexual in 2019.

A staple face and ambassador at Manchester Pride, she told Metro that she usually celebrates Pride by 'raising awareness with the charity.'

'I have always been supported by my friends and family – for people who are struggling, I would always say people who mind don't matter, people who matter don't mind,' she shared with the outlet, adding that Pride is a 'time for friends and family and to enjoy the part and culture of all aspects of LGBTQ+ culture which we all enjoy.'
