Boy George Reveals Use of Weight Loss Drug Mounjaro and Tummy Tuck Procedure
Boy George has opened up about his lifelong struggle with weight, citing measures such as a tummy tuck and the usage of weight loss medications named Ozempic and Mounjaro.
According to him, he has a fondness for food and curbing his appetite has always been a challenge. Currently, he is relying on Mounjaro to keep the weight in check. In his memoir Karma released on January 9, the singer who now aged 62 shared his observation that anyone who has drastically lost weight in recent times might be on Mounjaro too.
In his own words, Boy George admits to having battled his weight woes for most of his life, a battle that’s made more challenging under the public eye and media scrutiny. He says that we’re all prone to point out weight gain in others even when we ourselves might be on the heavier side.
The vocalist of Culture Club has had past experiences with plastic surgery to manage his body weight, having undergone tummy tuck for shedding off excess skin following a major weight loss of 100 pounds. This was not his first tryst with surgery, as he had previously gone under the knife for three hair transplants between the years 2015 and 2018.
Speaking about his experience with tummy tuck surgery, Boy George described it as an excruciating experience as he had to go on a tour with Cyndi Lauper soon after the procedure. He had lost 98 pounds through a metabolic balance diet and needed to shed the resulting excess skin. He took it in his stride, joking that he would tell people he has a scar from Cesarean twins.
His decision to try Ozempic was motivated by his appearance in the British reality show I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in 2022. He needed to maintain his slim profile and later switched to Munjaro for the same purpose.
Although he has had a number of plastic surgery procedures as documented in his autobiography, he claims to have never touched his face. According to him, he hasn’t had Botox and is possibly the only person in the entertainment industry who still has his original face. He isn’t afraid of aging and feels more confident with age, even sexier, as he puts it.
Several famous persons such as Sharon Osbourne and members of the Real Housewives' cast like Dolores Catania and Heather Gay have confessed to using Ozempic for weight loss on various platforms, while there are others who have lost significant amounts of weight but deny using the drug.
Sharon Osbourne shared, in Piers Morgan Uncensored, that she was able to lose 30 pounds in four months using injections of Ozempic. However, she felt that she had gone overboard with the weight loss and intended to stop it.
