Blue Ivy Carter Gracefully Averts Onstage Wardrobe Malfunction for Mom Beyoncé

The Beyhive officially deemed Beyoncé’s daughter Blue Ivy Carter the A-lister’s manager, and her stage presence during the Cowboy Carter Tour has proven her title right after a brief fashion mishap onstage.
Blue, 13, saved her mom from a wardrobe malfunction during the Chicago stop at Soldier Field on Thursday, May 15, and fixed the issue with grace and ease.
The Shade Room shared a clip via Instagram of Beyoncé performing her hit “Protector” from the Cowboy Carter album, which featured a rare public appearance from her youngest daughter, Rumi Carter, 7. Blue sat behind Bey during the song, while the family matriarch held Rumi in her arms as she sang. While Blue was performing her choreography, she unintentionally pulled on Beyoncé’s hair, which was stuck in her earring. The teenager widened her eyes and used her quick thinking to slyly unclutch her earring, allowing the Grammy-winning artist’s hair to fall free.
“She learned from watching her mother. Blue Ivy is everything you want in a daughter!” one person wrote in the comments section of the post.
A second fan laughed, “Her faces are sending me [laughing emojis] she’s like ‘oh s–t.’”
“Very demure, very Blue Ivy of her,” a third person added, as a fourth noted, “The quick thinking to remove the earring vs yank the hair out is A+ problem solving!!!”

Meanwhile, others couldn’t keep their eyes off of Rumi.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s youngest child, who is the twin to 7-year-old Sir Carter, won over the hearts of fans during her Cowboy Carter debut. During every show, the little one was just as excited as the last and waved energetically at the crowd. After a few shows, fans noticed that Rumi’s smile and demeanor became more contained – but her high energy returned during the Chicago concert.
“Somebody said Rumi be acting like she meeting Beyoncé for the first time [laughing emojis] she love her mama real bad,” a fifth person wrote in the comments section of The Shade Room’s post.
Another person replied, “Rumi said just smile and wave boys.”
Blue’s professionalism and dedication to strengthening her talents have not only impressed fans, but the queen Bey as well. The mother-daughter duo collaborated on The Lion King (2019) and Mufasa: The Lion King (2024) as Beyoncé voiced Nala, while Blue portrayed Kiara. Ahead of the premiere, the “Single Ladies” singer got emotional while reflecting on working with Blue and watching her step into her own spotlight.
“Blue as Kiara and hearing her voice come out of that character, it was really hard to focus and do my job after that,” Beyoncé told Disney Studios in December 2024, while visibly holding back tears. “I was like, ‘Wait, hold up guys. You gotta give me a second. I have to digest that.’ I’m so proud of her.”
While directing her attention to Blue, the former Destiny’s Child star continued, “I’m proud of you. I’m just so proud of you and I can’t believe how big and grown up you are. I’m proud that she’s going to represent so many young, Brown girls around the world. Nobody’s prouder than mommy.”
